Plaigiarism and AI policy

International Journal for Research in Environment (IJRE) is committed to maintaining the integrity, originality, and transparency of scholarly publications. All submitted manuscripts must comply with recognized standards of publication ethics and responsible research practices, including the ethical principles recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

All submitted manuscripts may be screened using appropriate plagiarism-detection software, including Turnitin and iThenticate, before they are considered for publication.

Plagiarism Limit

The journal generally allows a maximum similarity index of 15%. Manuscripts exceeding this limit, or containing substantial copied content, improper citation, duplicate publication, or any form of plagiarism, may be rejected during the editorial review process.

The similarity index is considered together with the nature and source of the matched text. Properly cited references, standard terminology, and other legitimate similarities may be evaluated separately by the editorial team.

AI Usage Policy

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is permitted for appropriate purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, formatting, and editorial assistance. Authors remain responsible for ensuring the accuracy, originality, integrity, and authenticity of their manuscripts.

Authors must ensure that:

  • Any AI-assisted content is carefully reviewed and verified by the authors.
  • The originality, accuracy, and authenticity of the manuscript are maintained.
  • AI tools are not used to generate misleading, fabricated, falsified, or plagiarized research.
  • AI tools are not credited as authors or listed as responsible for the scholarly work.
  • Where required, authors disclose significant use of AI tools in accordance with the journal's editorial requirements.
  • AI-generated or AI-assisted content should remain below 5% of the manuscript.

Authors remain fully responsible for the content, accuracy, originality, research integrity, and ethical compliance of their submitted manuscript, regardless of whether AI tools were used during manuscript preparation.

Misconduct Handling

If plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, inappropriate AI use, or other forms of ethical misconduct are identified before or after publication, the journal will take appropriate action in accordance with applicable publication-ethics principles and relevant COPE guidance.

Depending on the nature and severity of the misconduct, the journal may:

  • Reject the manuscript.
  • Request clarification, revision, or additional documentation from the authors.
  • Notify the relevant institution or authority where appropriate.
  • Publish corrections or editorial notices when necessary.
  • Retract the published article in cases of serious ethical misconduct.
