Author Guidelines

International Journal for Research in Environment (IJRE) welcomes original, unpublished research covering environmental science, environmental management, ecology, biodiversity, climate change, sustainability, natural resources, pollution and waste management, environmental health, conservation, and related interdisciplinary areas. Manuscripts must not be under consideration elsewhere and should comply with recognized standards of publication ethics.

Before submission, authors should ensure that:

  • The research is original and ethically conducted.
  • Sources are properly cited.
  • The manuscript follows the journal guidelines.
  • Necessary permissions and ethical approvals have been obtained where required.
  • All authors approve the submitted version of the manuscript.

Manuscript Preparation

  • Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • Use 12-point Times New Roman with 1.5 line spacing.
  • Include an abstract of 150–250 words and 4–6 keywords.
  • Suggested sections include Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results/Findings, Discussion, and Conclusion, where applicable.
  • Maximum recommended length: 8,000 words.

Formatting Requirements

  • Include the title, author names, affiliations, corresponding author details, and ORCID iD where available.
  • Use clear and consistent academic English throughout the manuscript.
  • Number all pages consecutively.
  • Tables and figures should be clearly labelled, numbered, and cited in the text.
  • Ensure that all figures, tables, and other supplementary materials are of appropriate quality and properly referenced.

Reference Style

Authors should follow the APA referencing style. DOI information should be included where available. References should be arranged alphabetically, and all sources cited in the text must appear in the reference list.

Publication Ethics

International Journal for Research in Environment (IJRE) follows recognized principles of publication ethics, including the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors must ensure originality, avoid plagiarism and duplicate submissions, disclose conflicts of interest, obtain ethical approvals where required, and present accurate and transparent research findings. Manuscripts may undergo similarity screening before peer review.

Review Process

The journal follows a double-blind peer review process in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Manuscripts are evaluated for originality, academic quality, methodological soundness, clarity, significance, and relevance to the journal's scope.

Guidelines for Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, fair, and confidential evaluations that support high academic and ethical standards.

Before Accepting a Review

  • Accept review assignments only when the manuscript falls within your area of expertise.
  • Complete reviews within the requested timeframe.
  • Declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the manuscript and review process.

Language and Clarity

Authors should submit manuscripts written in clear, professional, and understandable academic English. Authors are responsible for ensuring appropriate language quality, grammar, terminology, and overall clarity before submission.

Reviewer Reports

Reviewer reports should provide constructive and evidence-based feedback and may include:

  • A brief summary and overall assessment of the manuscript.
  • Major issues requiring revision.
  • Minor comments and suggestions.
  • Assessment of originality and significance.
  • Evaluation of methodology and research quality.
  • Recommendations for improvement.
  • A clear recommendation regarding publication.

Editorial Decisions

Following peer review, the Editor-in-Chief or designated editor may issue one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revisions
  • Major Revisions
  • Reject

Ethical Standards and Conduct

  • Confidentiality: Review all manuscripts and associated information confidentially.
  • Objectivity: Base evaluations solely on the academic and scientific merit of the manuscript.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Identify relevant missing citations or significant similarities where appropriate.
  • Integrity: Do not use unpublished information or material from submitted manuscripts for personal benefit.
  • Conflict of Interest: Disclose any circumstances that could affect the impartiality of the review.

All ethical concerns are managed in accordance with recognized publication-ethics principles and applicable Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance to promote fairness, transparency, and research integrity.
